Called about a to 20 on craigslist. Owner says it's been sitting in a shed for 20 years without being ran. He thinks the engine is stuck but not sure. I wouldn't think it would be stuck very bad since it's been stored inside. Asking price is $850. Are these engines typically hard to unstick?

if its been sitting in an unheated shed and you are in area that has freezing temps and if water was left in the engine...................

at least it had a roof over its head. right?

S19438 yes it's in an area that is cold in winter, but it had antifreeze in it. Probably stuck from not turning over for such a long time.

The Z-120 in the TO20 is a wet sleeve engine and has two "O" rings on each sleeve. I am thinking that this long (20 years) will cause these to leak water into the crankcase. Most all parts are still available and its fairly simple to rebuild these engines. If you have a heated shed/shop this would be a good winter project.

Scrap metal is running about $200 a ton. Tractor weighs about 3000 Lbs. That makes about $300 in scrap. Stuck motor? Pull the plugs, drop in PB Blaster or a decent penetrating oil and see if you can break the engine free.
I have a Ford 8N in the front yard with stuck motor, Good rear rubber, decent sheet metal and a Sherman overdrive transmission. It came home for $350.
Parted works out to
$500 for the tires or more.
$300 for the Sherman
$300 for the script feners and hood
$200 for the steering column.
Mebbe I should part this out.
Hmm.

Is your frozen Fegy worth 3X plus in parts?

Oh yeah, the wifes Fergy '20 with a worn out motor
and the starter hanging out came home with a Howard and Hupp in running condition (pull start) for $1200 also had a Howard rotavator tiller on the back of it also.
Are you sure $850 for a floz-zed motor?
Hmm...

I just went thru this. I bought one that had sat for many years. Not only was the sleeve orings leaking but the head gasket had turned to mush and was leaking also. It was so rusty inside the motor that I had to take a tire iron and drive the lifters down in their bores before I could take a 5lb hammer and knock the camshaft out. There are pics of it a few pages back. With that being said, the parts for these motors are cheap enough and yours may not have the same problems mine did. I gave $700.00 for mine with a stuck engine but the reason I gave that much is it was all original. Still had all of the pear shaped linch pins on the lift arms and on the stabilizer brackets. Still has the original voltage regulator, and it still has the plow lamp and tail light on it. I will always pay more for one that is all original like that. Now my other TO-20 that I use all the time I gave $400.00 for it,but it was in average shape. Missing the lights, wasn't charging,etc...the prices on Ferguson vary by area. If that tractor has good tires on it then it is worth $600.00-$800.00 around here even with a stuck motor. A good running one around here goes for $2000.00-$2500.00.
