s19438 that one does have 12 bolts where the brake unit and axle come together doesn't it? The 1958s were suppose to have 12 bolts mine is a very late 57 and it only has 6 bolts.

if the ser. no. tag is original this is number 815 in 58 run.

six bolts if I have the location you are referring to

what do the screws mounting the id tag tell you/us?

I will be emailing jerry moons shortly to get eng. info.

Those screws look as they are original. I was just curious as to when they actually put the 12 bolt into production. Yes that is the correct area. I am surprised there is not a "P" in front of the SGF. Thank you.

The screws are called 'Philips'... one L or 2?? I suppose there wasn't the 'legalities' like on a car vin tag.
The throttle lever I bet you will find is working the rod to the governor. The linkages under the dash let go and his hands were too big to reach under there and work on it. A 10 year old kid can fit their hands under there, but be careful no child labor inspectors are around. It ain't easy for little kids to work behind that dash either, a real pet peave to me, easier on a 20 or 30, heck other brands, IH, AC, had all this out in the open!!
Hey wrong grill, but at least the chickens can't get to the radiator fins..
Nice turf 28's, I put mine on the Cockshutt 540 loader tractor, and no one'd never know you were driving across a mowed lawn.
Nice slip joint pliers...

Nice find with the power steering! Does it have a two stage clutch? With the 'F' in the serial number I would expect it to be a single stage clutch but you never know what has changed over the years. That extra throttle lever looks like a 'fix' someone added. Maybe they didn't know how to replace the friction disk and where trying to stabilize a drifting throttle lever.

Dan

SINGLE STAGE CLUTCH AS FAR AS I KNOW. at least it feels like a ss.

my major concern is the oil pressure as it seems to have almost none, according to the gauge. when time permits I will put a new gauge on it and see what happens.

Does the power steering work? Most scrappers want between 6 and 1200 bucks for ps so good buy even with the F.
