Hello, are the lift pins changeable? I have one on the right side that the threads are shot. These are the pins coming off the axle that the lift arms pivot on. Thanks

Yes they are the same from side to side and the same for a TO-20 and TO-30.

(quoted from post at 17:02:23 09/13/14) You have to take axle housing off to change. There is a nut inside that hold it on housing.

Wow that sucks, was hoping they just unscrewed. What all is involved in pulling the axle tube?

Remove tire & wheel, brake rod, fender, bolts around housing and slide it off, then you can see nut that hold pin. Just unscrew and replace with new. I always replace new axle housing gasket. Really not that big of job.

In my experience you can get too the inner nut for the pin by removing the PTO shaft and bearing retainer from the back of the tractor. The right side is pretty easy to access after the shaft is out.I had to tighten mine several years ago and this was the simplest way. Just remember to drain the fluid from the axle, transmission, and hyd. housings

on my 35 the nut for the pin is a castle nut. if you can somehow get the castle nut on far enough and get a cotter pin in I think you would be ok. otherwise and unless you remove the lift arms frequently weld a nut on ???

It seems as I remember someone mentioning not to long ago by pulling the PTO shaft and the right side inspection cover you are able to change the right pin, but much more involved to get to left pin. Check the archives.

I checked the archives and couldn't find anything on the replacement of the lower link pins. I have one on the right side that needs replaced also, sounds like removing the PTO and retainer would be the easier way to go.

Has anyone else done it that way?
