fires up but wont run

I can get the engine to start but it dies after a few seconds. Able to repeat this over and over. Need the choke even on a 90' day after several short fires.

What is going on?

Dirty carb jets. Two choices for quick fix.
1) start engine, turn off gas let it run dry.
2) start engine attempt to hand choke it without stalling it. Putting your hand over the carb throat makes a fun challenge to remove it before the engine floods and dies. This action basically reverses the air flow in the carby. I have had some luck with it moreso than shutting off the gas flow.
You stalled and flooded the engine? Eiither let it set or crank it at wide open throttle or pull the lpugs and clean them. Do it again.
Repeat two or three times and problem should be gone.
