Can anyone tell me what the proper wiring to the Ignition Switch and the Alternator/Starter Switch? The tractor has been converted to a 12 volt system. Husband disconnected when changing out the switches and now can't remember what goes where... There's 5 wires altogether. Thanks!!! - Jen

Thanks, Richard!! I did a little more reading/research and did check out these diagrams. I should have mentioned that the tractor has a single wire alternator - is there a diagram for that somewhere???? Appreciate your help!

See alternator diagarm in above link and ignore extra wires.

One wire from alternator to ammeter. Other side of ammeter to battery cable at starter solenoid/switch.

Light and ignition switch supply wires connect to alternator side of ammeter.

One more thing, don't forget to put a diode in the
charge wire from the alternator or you'll have a
flat battery tomorrow. I buy a plug in at my
local auto parts store that replaces the original
plastic plug in on the alternator that has the
diode in the wire and a wire splice connector
already on it. I just hooked mine up to the hot
wire from the switch to the coil at the coil.
Works great. About 8 bucks and a its nice clean
installation.
Maybe I didn't do it right but it works.

He says he has a one wire alternator so no other connections are actually needed.

If you are using a Delco 10SI or 12SI alternator with 3 wire configuration the #2 pin on the small plug can go to hot battery connection or just loop down to the alternator output post.

If you are using a diode it goes between the on/off switch and #1 pin on the plug with marker band toward alternator. (I also have a couple of mine hooked at the input to the coil) Diode should have nothing to do with battery run down, its purpose is to prevent feedback that keeps the engine running when the switch is turned off.
