How to Remove Hollow Mounting Bolt from Worklight Socket?

I had to cut off the mounting bolt in order to remove the worklight from the TO-20. I think I've found the correct replacement bolt, but I can't see how to remove the remaining part of the bolt from the socket. Here's a photo of the inside of the socket (the bolt head is the round thing with a hole in the center):

I thought I could pry up that clip to get enough clearance to slip out the head of the bolt, but the clip is too stiff, and not at all "springy". (I could probably bend it, but I'd never get it bent back down.)

I was glad to find the hollow bolt: now I just need a switch, and a bulb, and to clean it up, and paint it...

Hack the rivet off that holds the offending strap in place with a Dremel, then replace it with a stainless steel screw after replacing the hollow bolt. YAMMV!

ounds good, Bob - I'll give that a try. (I likes me my Dremel! :D )

As do I! A few years ago I was perusing some snobby mechanics or tool site and they had a complete TIRADE on how no legit "wrench" would ever own (much less USE) one!

It's solved some dilemmas for me, though!

As far as I'm concerned if you got a dremel In your tool kit, your an engineer not a fitter or mechanic!.

I got one for when I was doing 1/32 toy tractor conversions. Truth is I have used it more in the shop for grinding welds and burrs in awkward places, than for what I brought it for.
On a couple of jobs that went awkward and I couldn't use a file or regular grinder, I have even been known to drive home from a local guys yard and get it, probably should buy another to have in the truck on jobs. Would be totally lost with out it and the 200 odd piece tool kit for it.
Regards Robert

just saw this post and was wondering if someone knows where to find the hollow bolts for the lights. I had to cut mine off to get the lights off my TO35 and havent been able to find the bolts. I could salvage one of the headlights if I could find the hollow bolt. Thanks folks. dwaldro in MS

dwaldro, I got mine from Just*ns. (They're D3nnis C@rpenter Ford reproductions.)

Edit: I had to post that in code - let me know if you need help finding them. My e-mail is open in modern view.
