I purchased this a few days ago, Non runner. This my first encounter/ experiance with said tractor and manufacture. I found the #4 piston in the oil pan. I took off the gas tank, radiator, and valve cover late today and found #4 piston exaust valve missing. This is going to be a rebuild on the Z 120 engine...are there any suggestions about upgrades or oversize pistons , sleeves, modifications I should know about?

Well, everything depends on how much you want to spend. As you plan on taking the engine apart inventory what you need to replace and upgrade. There are all of the engine parts here on the parts site for the z120 engine. You will not be able to replace with original piston size only upgade to the overbore (more power), unless you can find nos piston and sleeve somewhere, and they are out there.

Also, plenty of help on this site and a great little tractor. I have three TO 30's right now from finished overhauled worker to a complete rebuild waiting to happen.

take oodles of pics as you go along cause if your anything like me your memory will fail you at one point or another. especially since this is your first ferguson experience.

Thank you all for the info, I thought this was way to nice of a tractor and just had to bring it home to try to save it.

Buy a manual, there are lots of little mind twisters like the thrust washers, rope seals, top and bottom rear main bearings, sleeve orings etc. Make sure nothing is cracked with magna flux test.
