got lucky and got the pin drilled out of the shaft and only broke one drill bit.

now for the really dumb stuff.
if I used a 5/8-18 NF thread cleaner to do the shaft threads what size do i use to do the castle nut threads ???

once again thanks !

anxiously awaiting EXPO photos...........

The same tap size, but unless you have one, a new nut will cost less than a tap, and be better fit, especially if threads are missing.

I see this site sells the pivot pin but I have not seen the castle nut listed any where..........

Try Agco

Do not try New Holland, the nut they sell for the Ford N series is just a regular 5/8" lock nut. Not a castle nut.

Any good hardware store should have castle nuts. McMaster Carr has them.

But got to thinking, wasn't the shoulder 5/8 and the threaded part 1/2 20 or 7/16 20?

Never was clear on that...

All mcmaster has is 5/8" 11. Fastenal has 5/8" 18 but it's a grade two nut. That's why I recommended getting one from Agco so you would get the right grade of nut. My parts book says it is a 5/8" 18 slotted nut.

Steve, Dorman makes a 5/8"-18 Castle Nut; their part number is 220-016. Your local auto parts store should have them, or other brand.

Will a 5/8" nut work after you re-thread your pivot? Or are you going to replace it?
