tale of two 35's

I am tinkering with two of my 35's each with their own hyd. problem. today I was addressing the 35 that the lift arms will not go down normally. I did find out today that if I get the hyd. oil up to operating temp. and after shutting it down I can push the hyd. arms down, with some effort.
does that situation go any where's towards diagnosing the hyd. problem ???
thanks.
ps: I have never delved into the inner workings of the hyd. sys. and it scares me more than bit to go into uncharted territory.

My guess is the position control lever is out of position. It probably will come back down with weight when warm due to the thinner oil having an easier time leaking back.

The hydraulics look complicated, but they're not bad.

Place the position at the Fast mark, and the draft lever below the lower of the two punch marks. If the draft lever is too high it will not go down either, worth a look.

The YT store has a DVD of- from the hairstyles and lack of blue rubber gloves??? ... a 1980's or 90's video of the tearing into a 35 hydraulic repair. I think it's just out of adjustment or something simple- and hopefully free.

Any idea what oil is in it? Don't want anything too thick, they work better with 10-40 motor oil, RO68 hydraulic oil, etc.

brand new 90w mineral. yeah its thick in the winter but summertime in the 80's no issue I think
