To Paint or Not

Gentlemen:
I finally bought one of the new ductile manifolds for my T0-30 that I have nursed along for 20 years. It's a working tractor but I like to keep it fairly neat and somewhat original. I scoured my back issues of "Furrows" to see what others have done with the manifolds but it's not clear except for the intake portion has been painted the engine color. Should I paint the entire thing before installation with "heat paint" and if so what color. I'm thinking silver or black. Thanks a million....ps: it's been so long since I posted I forgot my user name, hence the new "handle".

Thanks, sometimes it's just good to get a second opinion. I'm more worried about bumping a beehive which I did a few years ago and had to jump off and run for the pond.

I painted my manifold flat black with high heat paint I had left over from another project. Since mine is a working tractor, I care less about whether it looks "proper" than whether it works well and looks respectable. I like the look, and it's certainly better than the rust that was there before.

But it's your tractor, you do as you see best.

I think I'm going the high heat flat black route, normally I wouldn't have thought too much about it but it looks so good in the box. I've been dealing with the cracks and repairs for so long I guess I just want it to be perfect. Thanks.

use the ceramic high heat paint

The main thing is to have your manifold blasted clean and then after you paint it with high heat paint you need to bake it in order for the paint to cure properly. Eastwood makes some really good high heat paint.
