TO-30 loader front hydraulic pump shaft install

I recently purchased a "54 TO-30 and separately, a front end loader. My issue is that there are no splines in the crank pulley to bite on the drive shaft for the front end loader hydraulic pump. I believe I either need a different pulley or some kind of adapter. Could someone point me in the right direction? Maybe a part number? Thanks!

Hello,I think ford uses the spline type shaft. When I put a wagner loader on my to35 , I had to buy a new front crank pully that had a 3 bolt pattern for an adapter plate and the shaft screwed in with left hand thread. The 3 bolts are in rubber bushings so the shaft can work. It has the z134 Continental engine.-ed

Thanks! I'll add some pics when I get home so people can see what exactly I have. I have seen some adapters online but my pulley does not have holes. Where did you buy the pulley and adapter for yours?

Hello, I had to buy the front crank pulley and new front seal, The left hand thread adapter plate and the left hand thread shaft. This was 30 years ago and the dealer I bought them at is out of business.
I was like 400.00 bucks and I only paid $150 for the loader- I was not happy LOL. A Ferguson dealer may be able to get the parts for you, A tractor junk yard would be your best bet, there may be one setting that had a loader on it and still has the pully and adapter.- hope this helped-ed

This is what my pulley looks like. Also, the shaft that came with the loader and another piece, not sure what it's for.

Here are pics

I figured out what the other piece is.

gtmc - just got my loader done on my TO30 so it's fresh in my mind...

If you want to run that front pump, that center bolt (sticks out in your pic, had the 4 twisted fingers - it's for a hand crank starter) anyhow, it needs to come off and a large slot-head machine screw goes in. STOP, likely your front crank pulley doesn't have mounting provisions for that flanged/bushed mount plate in your other picture = you need a new crank pulley (when I checked I found one for $225). If yours does have 4 holes to bolt that flange on you're ahead of the game.

I'm running mine off the rear hydraulics, it's not the fastest but it works pretty good so far.

To do that notice the pipe plugs under the seat (one on each side of the lift cover). That's pressurized oil from your rear 3pt lift cyl. Everyone has an opinion about this "you'll lose your 3pt" "you can't have a power bucket"...

Here's what I did: I've run a line off that lift cover to a 2 position valve with a check valve on the inlet, one side is plugged the other goes to the bucket/arm 2 spool valve which goes to the dipper stick and bucket cyls, it's NORMALLY OPEN which has a return going to a fitting I drilled/tapped into the rear sump cover with the dipstick on it.

To make it work you flip the 2 position valve to allow pressurized oil to the spool valve and raise the quadrant control like you're lifting your 3pt. This gives you pressurized oil to lift and control the bucket UNTIL THE 3PT goes all the way up, then you lose pressure - to counter this most people chain the lift arms down to the axle.... I put a length of chain on that lets the arms come ALMOST ALL THE WAY UP, that way I can still use the box scraper while I'm moving dirt with the front bucket.

NOTE - the scraper drops to the ground when I open the circuit to the FEL, the solution? CHECK CHAINS that keep the scraper from touching the ground when I'm using the FEL (by the way, it took me awhile to realize that FEL is Front End Loader)

It's not the quickest, it's not LIVE (clutch depressed and the bucket doesn't work), but it was a quick, cheap and "easy" way to run the FEL.

Let me know if you want pics.

Good luck

Thanks for your reply. I would love to see any pics you have of this. My dad works at a machine shop so he has made all of the parts that we need to run the front pump. He is coming up with the parts and to help me work on it this evening. Hopefully It turns out right, but if not, I will be looking for another option.

here's some pics (no judging for neatness of execution... this was setup for viability from parts off the spares pile)

There's a closeup of the front pulley and the recesses for 4 rubber bushed pins for a LH threaded adapter to drive the front hub.

The only hole I drilled on the tractor was for the oil return and I put that into the dipstick cover.

The mess of chains is what I used to keep the 3pt in position (I planned to cut them to length but haven't had a moment yet).
