T30 stuck in gear

I am a new owner of a T30. I was bush hogging and ran out of gas. The fergy stopped while still in gear and after putting in gas was unable to get out of first gear to start. Usually I can rock the tractor and get it out of gear but this time I couldn't get it to shift while rocking. I was wondering if I could use a remote starter switch to get the starter to turn with the clutched pedal pushed in. I don't know if this makes any sense, but when you are stranded you'll try anything ! Thanks for helping !

Take off the gear shifter by undoing the two nuts:

It should look like this:

If not, lever the selectors back so the slot is in line and you will be back in neutral. You may need to depress the clutch to move the selectors if the tractor is on a slope, pre loading the transmission.

Fred, Bob is in Australia and he has the TE A 20 Ferguson. You say you have a T30 which you should say you have a TO 30 if that is what you have. There is a difference between the two your TO 30 does not have the two nuts to hold the shifter on like Bobs does. You will need to remove the large nut to the left of the shifter and with a long screwdriver put it in that hole and try to get the selectors lined up. Bobs pictures should help you to realize what you want to accomplish. Block wheels if on a grade.
