Tire size

I have a 52 TEA 20 with two different tire sizes.
One is 12.4-28/11.28 the other is 11.2-28.
Would someone please explain these numbers? I need
to replace the 12.4-28/11.28

Years ago they changed the numbering on tractor tire sizes. What used to be a 10-28 is now a 11.2-28. An 11-28 became a 12.4-28. Lots of tires were produced with both numbers molded into them. The tire you have that says 12.4-28/11-28 is a 12.4-28 and it's telling you that that tire size replaced the older 11-28. If the other tire says 11.2-28 then that is the modern sizing numbers and if you need one to match it then get another 11.2-28,but try to find one of the same brand because not all tire manufacturers tire diameters are the same even though they are the same number. I had to buy new rear tires for my TO-20 and I bought BKT 11.2-28 and they are two inches taller than the Firestone 11.2-28 they replaced. That's why I recommend finding the same brand so you will be close on the diameter.

I just bought a new set of rear tires for my TO-35 ferguson.
the tires are 12.4x28, I think they fit the tractor properly and look good.
$900+ out the door with fluid and new tubes
str or sum such brand made in china, but US made tires had the funny looking 23 degree tread design and cost more than the old tractor is worth.

Jason is right on the money with the tire sizes. I also have a pair of BKT 12-4's on my 30. They really have a lot of rubber on them and I like the style of the bar. This is a picture of the tractor on the day I bought it setting in the sellers shed. Maybe you could sell your spare tire and buy a new pair that matches. Just an idea......
