I've used mine with the to35 with 2 stage and can't see any problems with a single stage using it. After all you'll be in neutral.

I have a digger of about the same size, it works great on my 1957, TO35.

Just be sure that the digger has the proper (soft) grade shear bolt installed and that you have a few extra shear bolts in the toolbox.

Note to file: shear bolts are much cheaper than replacing busted gears.

Also, when you bring home a 3pt hitch post hole digger, you will have many new friends, however they will want to borrow the digger.

My good friend borrowed mine to did 3 holes, within a week, his son wanted to borrow it to dig 60-70 holes for a fence on his father in laws farm. The old man could afford a new john deere tractor with loader, but not a post hole digger.

I said no, I was going to use it.

In addition it's dug holes for another friends pole barn.

Do you see a pattern here.

Yeah mine's even bigger, and the 35 handles it fine, matter of fact, it makes matters easier using the TO30, with the single and old fashioned hydraulics. IF..it got stuck in the hole a live hydraulic can lift it up without the pto trying to dig even deeper, that's the only benefit to the 2 stage rig. 450 is a good price for that one too.

No problem. I've got same size on my 35. Make sure you get the stand with it. They are a royal pain in the a$$ to hook up without them already being in the right position. One shot of trying to hook it up while balancing it on the digger point and you'll be making a stand.

Max a neighbor borrowed mine and brought it back with a twisted driveshaft. 2 years later when I went to use it then was too late to say anything.

The friend that borrowed mine to dig the pole barn holes.

When his helper loaded my digger onto his flat bed trailer, he was about to take off without even securing it to the trailer. I said secure if if you are going to take it down the road.

After seeing this loading procedure, I figured, I would never see the digger in all one piece again,

But my friend was so impressed with its performance, he bought a digger of his own.

On a side note: when they brought the digger back (in good repair) the hired man thanked me for loaning them the digger, otherwise he was going to have to dig all those pole barn holes with a hand digger.

Of course it will, just think of all the older grey ones that only had a single clutch, they worked them ok...It's not like you were moving as well as operating the PTO....just keep lifting and lowering as you dig the hole, if you let it go too deep you will have to wind the auger out by hand, turning the PTO the opposite way with a wrench.. and you don't want to be doing that...John(UK). Hook up the middle connector first. Then the two for the lift arms.
