to 30 quadrant shaft removal

(quoted from post at 05:12:41 07/02/14) can the quadrant control shaft be pulled out and replaced without taking the lift cover off

It can on a TEA , they get fairly rusty over time and pulling them out to clean and grease is good practice .

Yes it can be removed easily. Just remove the four bolts holding the quadrant control assembly in place and pull it straight out. It"s the same for the TO,TE,and TEA series. When you reinstall the quadrant you know it has to be adjusted don"t you? You adjust the quadrant after adjusting the draft control spring under the seat. If you need to know how we can help you.

the adjustment isnt what i was worried about. i have the factory repair manual but the only mention of assembling the quadrant is in a section about removing the lift housing and there is a spring that got put back after the quadrant shaft was put in. i just wanted to be sure if i took it out that spring wouldnt be an issue. thanks for the help

What spring are you referring to? The one behind the castle nut that tightens up on the friction disc?

its inside the lift housing. manual calls it the fork retracting spring it is the last step in the reassembly instructions.
