I got this email from a friend of mie who lives two hours away from me in Savannah NY. I just told him not to put any money into his Farmall A.

Well, now the other (The Ferguson) is down. I was driving it down a slope in 3rd this morning near the house when it seemed to slip out of gear. When I stopped at the bottom the gear shift lever had not moved, but the clutch would not work. It comes up but nothing happens. I removed the shift lever and found that all the gears would moved when the lever was put in place, but when the clutch was let out nothing. I don't have a book on it.

Any ideas as to what happened would be appreciated. I was planning to go up and look at the Farmall but my son arrives from Wisconsin tomorrow. I'll be busy with grandchildren for a couple of weeks.

Something in the clutch... Since it went without warning, probably the center broke out of the clutch disc. Should be obvious once it's apart.
