6 to 12 volt conversion Starter Motor

Didn't know 6 to 12 volt conversion starter motors were available for the TE20, but I see BareCo now list a:

[b:60771b3cad]6 to 12 volt conversion Starter Motor[/b:60771b3cad].

Replaces 6 volt bullet nose starter.

[b:60771b3cad]Application:
[/b:60771b3cad]Te20 petrol with 6 volt system

As BareCo are an Australian company (with a US branch in Sacramento, Calif), I am not sure whether they are referring to the early 6 volt Standard engine TEA20 or whether the starter also fits the early TE20 with Continental engine.

It is starter marked "1":

Looks like it comes with a solenoid.

No idea of the price or availability but thought this may interest some early TE20 owners.

Hope I'm not treading on YT's toes or impinging on their great parts service, but they do not list a 6 to 12 volt conversion starter motor for TE20s.

Bob my TEA starter 12 volt will not fit on my TE the flywheel will not line up to engage the starter no# 2 is the one i have where the Bendix drive turns into the starter On the TE it has the Lucas starer but i don't remember the nosecone if the rain holds off i will take look

That Starter with the solenoid has been available for a while now, but there is another starter that looks exactly like the original 6 volt type but it is a 12 volt. It is available from the YTForum site as..(Part No: 4858MFGXL_12V) price $179.95 USD. Most of the suppliers of parts seem to have this now.. John(UK)[email protected]

The 12 volt TEA starter has a very long Bendix shaft and will not interchange with a 6 volt starter because the Transmission Housing and the Cyl Block will not accept it. On TE's and TO20/30 there were some differences in the Flywheels but not on all, some will interchange, some TO's have the Ring at the wrong side of the Ridge on the Flywheel and it need moving to the front BUT not all are as easy as that, you have to check each one as to whether it will fit or not..John(UK)

Thanks John i do remember something like that. I did look at my TE starter 6 volt with a nosecone

The starter labelled "2" above is the 12 volt starter for your later model 12 volt TEA20.

The 6 to 12 volt conversion starter motor I was referring to is a replacement for the 6 volt starter on early 6 volt TEA20's and possibly 6 volt TE20's.

Thanks John, I didn't realise the conversion starter had been available for some time and a quick check in YT's spares and I didn't see it.
