know that the TE is a Lucas and TO s a delco. Can I use a Delco on m TE?

They made two kinds of Lucas starters the one for the TEA will not work the
TE and TO used the same motor so it should work

The TO starter will not work on the TE as is. It will just spin.

Yes they have the same motor,fly wheel and ring gear. However, the ring gear is mounted on the front side of the Flywheel on the TO and on the back side of a TE.

To make it work you have to move the ring gear or replace the whole fly wheel assy.
