It followed me home, can I keep it? 1958 TO-35

Well it is nearly home, just off trailer and starting to figure out all that must be corrected for a safe start back to working as a useful tractor.

In theory it is a 1958 MF TO-35 with the Standard 23C diesel.

A question, the data plate is missing, four small holes where it should reside. Any other locations on tractor this might be found.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

Photos, I hope this time, but alas no luck!

I have reduced photo size to 1.5 x 1.7 and 150 dpi. It shows in the photo upload sequence, but not in "preview message".

Must be my thumbs again.

Mine's a '59. There is only one serial number plate, yours isn't the first one to disappear. There might be a way to cross reference by the engine plate. Ball park anyway.
I'll try to take a pic tomorrow. 23C huh? Where are you? Oh, good luck with her!

If it's red and gray, it's a '58 thru '60 model. Might find some casting dates, but the casting could have laid around a few years before they were used.

Located in Detroit area.

Doing a complete clean up now, will look for the engine data plate, in hopes of further definition of what year. Cowling Tin has been repainted by shaker can previously, block and trans/diff are lt.grey, rear wheels look more silver rim with faded red centers, fenders are very faded red, and same for front wheels.

Front emblem is "Ferguson", and bucket seat has remains of MF decal logo. Sorta fits for the transition year.

If yours is a 1958 it should really be described as a 1958 Ferguson TO 35. The MF 35 was not called that until about the middle of May 1960. If yours has the Ferguson plate on the front of the hood it is a Ferguson TO 35. If it has the Massey Ferguson Emblem on the front it is a Massey Ferguson 35. Of course this is IF they have not been changed. They started painting the Ferguson TO 35 Red & Grey at serial number 176341 in 1957.

Richard, you have narrowed the time table down. The TO-35 does have the Ferguson emblem on front shell, and after much cleaning and scraping the Engine/trans/diff are a light grey, with the shell and fenders, air cleaner, inside of top access cover (single screw) all a very faded red.

Thanks for the input.
