Yes, the stem rotors mentioned they were built with, but now 'unavailable'... so now thanks to John UK, the cross reference is now 'British Sports Car Spares'.... are there any British sports car parts left in the US? I suppose that's what craigslist and Sam's suitcase allowance is for is for....

Not all Standards had the exhaust valve rotators. The "EVR" after the serial number denotes exhaust valve rotators.

Seems you're the one to ask this one John... how the heck many valve springs we suppose to have here? I am looking at 7.... do I have one to few? Or 3 too many? I get differing answers from different books and sites. I will look for those intials, but the tops of the stems sure look pounded, maybe just years of use? Fawcett's hasn't got back to me yet- any old Fergie bone yards in eastern Ontario???

Tony: Mine only had one spring per valve. Broke one exhaust spring which is why I had to replace it. Got spring through MF dealer at Springbrook, Ont. Did not find valve rotator listed in parts book but did find it in the engine. With John(UK) assistance discovered that some engines were equipped with them mainly for testing for the upcoming (at the time) 35 engine. The serial number suffix indicates if they were installed. I had no knowledge of them until I went to repair mine and found the small springs and balls on top of the head. Sure glad they did not fall down the push rod side. Got all springs and balls and put it back together. Took photos and measurements of the pieces and sent to John(UK). That's about all I know about them.

In my parts book the roto cap and spring is not illustrated but it is in the parts numbers. It starts at #37.

181851M91 1 Rotocap Kit, Exhaust Valve 181849M1 4 Spring, Valve 181850M91 4 Rotocap Assembly 825483M91 1 (C) Decarbonizing Set (85MM) (C) - Order (1) 825003M1, (2) 825194M2, (1) 825836M1 And (1) 829029M1.
Personally I wouldn't mess with the rotocaps.

Tony this is from my parts book which is dated 1957. It shows a single spring and no lash caps. It does show another spring that was used with roto caps but that's it. Mushroomed valve tips doesn't suprise me if it's the original valves. I've taken apart many engines from the 1960's and they still were using soft tipped valves then.
