Can someone please tell me if a 12V ignition coil from a TO35 will work for a TO20? I am upgrading my TO20 to 12V. I dont know very much about tractors so any help would be appreciated.

I bought a 12V altenator conversion kit. I am trying to figure out the rest of what I need. I think I need a new 12V coil? Not sure if I need the voltage regulator since the altenator has it in it. Will a 12V regulator that fits a TO35 work? Sorry I dont know very much but im trying. Thx

The 12v coil off a TO35 will work with your conversion. You will not use the old regulator, it is built into the alternator. The conversion kit should have come with instructions and a wiring harness. If it did not, get back to us, it's easy to make a harness and wire it in.

Did the kit come with a mounting bracket? If not, you'll need to fab one or find one or have one made. Belt alignment and pulley width are critical!

Also, if there are any lights, they will need to be converted to 12v lamps.

It doesn't matter where the coil came from as long as the voltage is correct for the tractor you are going to use it on now.
Fit a longer Ground lead from the Battery to a bolt close to the Starter. If you change the tractor to Negative Ground then you will need to feed the HT coil from the Ignition Switch to the Positive Terminal on the HT Coil or you will not get a good spark. If you don't know which terminal is Positive, then try them both to see which gives the best spark and use that
