TO20 hydraulic problem

Recently had this tractor given to me. Ferguson is new to me but I have mechanical experience with my Ford NAA and AC D-17. My problem is with the hydraulics. While using the tractor to pull my hay rake the lift won"t stay where I put it even though the quadrant isn"t changed. After setting the height with the PTO still on I can go couple hundred yards and the lift will raise all the way up. If I reposition the quadrant down a very small amount soon the draw bar will go all the way down. The quadrant is very touchy and hard to get a happy medium. Does any one have recommendations.
Thanks for any help.

The TO20 does not have lift height control. The lift lever is basically an "up" or "down" controller. If you want absolute height control, there is a guy over on the Ford 8N forum that sells a gadget to attach to your TO20 that will convert it to height control also. (There also free plans available to build your own controller. His gedget is apparatus is well-known around the Ford and Ferguson forums and does work as advertised.)

As you have been told, the tractor only has draft Control and needs pressure down the Top Link to control the hydraulics. If you only need to lift it and then lower it to one height above the Ground, then you can use two chains, one end attached to the lift pins of the Implement and the other to the long hinged Pin below the Top Link connection. Adjust the lengths of the Chains to the height you need. you should cross the Chains when you attach them to the tractor. You can make up a position Control if you wish and I will send you the drawings if you want them but chains are quicker to make up and is what was always used in the earlier days..
