So, finally getting around to taking this 20 apart... I thought I'd try starting it before ripping the STD engine apart... not going to happen. The distributor SHAFT has got a chunk torn out, where the plastic nub on the rotor goes... and the pin in the cap doesn't conduct half a volt. Compression tests are barely 60#.

Thinking since it is has Ford 8n axles and axle housings, kinda figured the whole arsend was ford.
Seen a couple other UK made 20's in my travels lately... the diff housing and lift cover are- well the jury is still out.
A US made 30 or 35 (this TEA was made in 1955) has heaps of [HF] marks. I get the drift UK ones don't have HF's in the castings at all. So I am going by the dorF marks on the trumpets... the diff and cover have neither.
The brake pedals are another kettle of fish... is there anything written in stone? vary year by year? The right side seems to be a 'heel and toe' affair?
So? It's all knackered? toss it in the bin? Don't fret, nay bloody worries mate? I do not intend to throw any dodgy pieces out, even the ford marked stuff will stay till we figure this lot out.
So John UK, your vast knowledge is needed here. 2 tractors.. can you sent me pics of any marks on your FE35? About the same age aren't they?? Perhaps I should have bought the MF85 that was for sale at the same time....

Looks like a six volt TEA Tony , everything forward of the backend is Coventry , the back is Foreign. One odd thing though the air cleaner is classic six volt so it is supposedly before 1952 but the Massey Harris serial plate points to 1955 or later . Independant brake pedals were smaller up until about the same time . The left hand side of the bell housing looks like it is made for the shorter six volt starter as well . The fan is something from a horse of a different colour entirely.

Tony, get me the serial number and fofh will date it for you, but as far as I see it is 11/10/54 and goin g by the gearbox extended section behind the starter ...it is a 12 volt....The most powerful of the TE range. Some of that arseend may be Ferguson....Brake drums are too small though. We need more pics........what colour are you gonna paint it?................Sam

Tony, you have your work cut out for you. We want that one brought to the Expo in Lagrange, In. You have 66 days as of now. You know if it was in Texas that would probably be all ready to go in about 14 days tops. Get busy!!!
