New Pivot Pin/Bushing - Too Loose?

I installed a new axle pivot pin and bushing in my TO-20.

The bushing and pivot fit tight when it was off the tractor, but when I reinstalled the axle carrier, pin and center axle section last night, it seemed like there was too much movement between the pin and bushing: when you grab one end of the axle center section and move it back and forth, you can "wiggle" it a little, toward the front and rear of the tractor.

How much play, if any, is OK? I'll post a couple of pictures. (Sorry, no video, so you can't see anything moving.)

I do know that it's a lot tighter than it was before. (Here are a couple of "before" pictures.)

Tom. Out of curiosity, what is that rod or tube under the pivot pin? The TEA20 doesn't have it.

(The grease nipple - or I think you would call a "zerk" - was there when I bought the tractor in 1986.)

Incidentally, a good ride on lawn mower. I have an L110.

Bob, that's the hood safety catch, that was only used on some early TO-20s. The official Parts Book doesn't even have a picture of it any more, but Bob at FENA did some detective work and found an old Ferguson Parts Book that had it. (I think I have a copy that I can post.)

The John Deere mower belonged to my father. He started hiring his mowing out, so he asked me to "take care" of that machine. I just started using it this season.

I'm glad you mentioned that Tom. I need to bring it to Bob's attention that he is wrong on that one. I now have two 1951 TO-20's with the hood latch that according to him is not supposed to be there. My tractors were produced roughly 10,000 tractors apart.

I hadn't seen that catch probably because I only ever looked at one TO20 during a visit to my daughter in Texas. No TO20's in Australia!

No doubt I should thank Jason for building my very reliable JD L110 (with Kohler engine).

How's that "new" TO-20 coming along, Jason?
