The Missing Link

Much to my surprise, I was able to get the governor spring I was looking for! This is the plunger spring for my TO35.
When I ordered online I had a hard time finding a dealer that seemed to have one. I tried Jack's small engines as they were one of the only dealers that came up when searching. I had my doubts because there was no picture in the description and about a week after it was ordered I got an email saying there was a delay. I thought for sure that meant I'd be waiting a really long time or getting a refund. Lo and behold, it showed up! And genuine parts no less.
So for anyone else looking for this governor spring, it can be found.

Oh my that don't look like my to35's spring if it's the one connected to the water pump as the D shaped end is elongated from the spring.Good luck and let us know when you get it working.

I've heard it referred to as the governor spring. It's the one that goes on the plunger from the throttle linkage to the governor lever. I didn't really want a used one because I wanted to make sure it had the correct tension and wasn't worn out.
The one you are referring to 2 Tractors is the compensating spring. I have a new one of those to put on too. I was able to get that one from this site.
I still think it's the bearings on the governor shaft. I have purchased a used timing cover that appears to be less worn out than mine. Now that I have all the springs, I'll go about putting the new parts on. Just working on cleaning up the shop right now. The 35 spent it's first night outside in a year and a half! It got rained on  .

I have ordered three or four things through Jacks and like you said, no picture so you aren't sure its going to be right, but the part number matches and I have always received the correct part. Sometimes his is the only place I have found a part listed.

Yes, exactly Dan. This is good, it's nice to know there is a source for MF parts online. Especially since the nearest dealer to me is around 100 miles away.

My bad, thought it was the water pump spring. Hope it works but don't think it will. I'm still thinking its the under the dash setting but sometimes the old parts will just fall in place. Talked to Tooooneee this morn, he's headed to the big "T" but had a brake problem at Jason's in Tenn, tried to get him by to pick me up!!

I'm pretty sure I understand the whole thing now and how all the springs and linkage parts work together...........although I've been proven wrong before!
I do not believe it is either of the springs causing my problem either. I'm still leaning towards the bearings on the gov shaft in the timing cover. Not sure if I'm allowed out to the shop tomorrow to work on it, just spent the last 2 days cleaning it up. I'll be sure and post an update when I get it working.

I figured Tony must have gone somewhere, he hasn't been on here in a while. Hope he takes lots of pictures of his travels!
