TEF20 - i need some help to get this old lady started :)

Actually i can get here started, if tow-started, but i really like to start it without help.
First thing - where is the start position? Its not possible to see any numbers or letters on the housing.
But I think it must be the upper right position? Should it engage like when you put the shifter in gear? Feels like its "locked" in some way. All four gears and reverse are working just fine.

Next; is there a starter safety switch? Think i have read that somewhere. If so, where is it?

(PS: im new to tractors)

Here is a picture of it: http://www.speedfreak.no/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/20140422-101612.jpg

The gearshift has a lock out to prevent engagement of the starter.
Sit on seat
By your right ankle you should see a plunger about 1 1/2" in diameter sticking out of the side of the transmission housing.
Push this in with your right foot, the gear shift should then engage in to the start position.
There is an exess fuel button on the injector pump and also a decompressor to aid cold start, and I think they also had the Ki-Gas start aid as well.

I have never heard of a gas start on the Standard Diesel Engine and that plunger is also new to me but I am willing to learn something new. Good looking tractor and operators.

Richard is correct. the KI-gas used diesel in the bottle and then you
pumped the primer while holding out the heater knob. The pump
atomised the diesel and squirted it on the heater element in the
intake manifold to cause a flame, thus helping the initial start-
up........Sam

Thanks Richard! Its a bit funny, but the guy i got it from had noe idea why the starter didnt turn, he thought there was something wrong with the wiring/electrical (he was a Ford-guy though  )
The guy i rent my workshop from has like 30-40 tractors (many Fergusons TEA/TEF), but not even he was able to tell me about this plunger.
I found the fuel button the day i got it, and figured what its for, so that good. Decompressor found also :)

I found and tested the plunger yesterday, and it works!
Im gonna see how it will start today after a night in around zero degrees.

Then im gonna change some oil, and try to wire watertemp and oilpressure instruments.

Yes, it also has the KI-gas system :) Thanks for the information on how it works.

Have used the old lady a couple of days now (4-5 hours), but today she died...
It was just idling when i heard this ka-dang, dang, dang....silence.
And now shes stuck! Im not able to turn the engine over any more. I think something internal just blew

Where do i start now ?
