Cork Throttle Friction Disc

I got some 1/8" cork gasket material to make a new friction disc for the TO35. Now I'm wondering does it just go in between the plates loose or does it get glued to something? I looked back through the archives and found lots of posts on the topic but nothing about it being glued. I'm assuming it goes in loose. Also, the surfaces of my throttle plates are pitted, I'm assuming I should clean them up so they're smooth or close to it or it'll tear up the cork?

I don't believe they're glued to anything. The one on my 65 wasn't. Probably the smoother the better. The cork works a lot better than the nails and crap that were stuffed around my throttle lever!

I have a small case lawn tractor, the blade pto
clutch on it uses a similar type clutch disc.

It is glued to the drive (motor side) of the clutch
pack.

If one side is not glued or secure, it would appear
the throttle pressure would vibrate the throttle
either open or closed giving you no control.

Just my two cents, while thinking outside the box.

I thought I had read that somewhere but I was unable to find the post on here. Now, any idea which side it should be glued to? Or would it really matter?

Thank you Charles, I was thinking I glued mine because if you don't it would have an opportunity to turn and it is suppose to grab not turn.

Not that familiar with the TO 35 series Inno , but on the TE20 the cork friction material is stuck to a revolving disc that is welded to the throttle shaft . Tension is provided by a spring behind the dash .

Not to sound like I don't appreciate all your advice but I emailed John (UK) last night and he replied this morning. He says just to put it on loose, no glue.

Put it all back together, got a reasonable amount of load on the spring, and no more throttle creep.
