3 point stud leaks oil.

My friend has a TO 20. The Studs that hold the 3 point arms are leaking oil, just one of them. We have tried to tighten it with a impact but it just spins. Is there a way to hold the nut on the inside, if so how do you access it?
Thanks for any help.

You will have to pull the axle housing off to get to the nut on the inside. If its the right side pin that's leaking, maybe you can pull the PTO and go through the rear PTO shaft opening but I've never tried that and don't now how feasible it is. If you pull the left side axle housing you can tighten the left pin, then slide the differential out and get to the right side pin. Take both rear wheels off before doing this and be sure to have good support under the tractors center section and still attached axle.

Someone asked about this a few weeks ago. My file pics are gone, but in the archives is a thread I added pics too, showing the inside of the trumpet, and the work involved in fixing this leak. One of my '3 days for a 3 dollar part' jobs... The nut inside works loose after 50 or 60 years, that's about it....

Hi, I changed one on I believe was a to35 by pulling the pto shaft many years ago. I used a breaker bar with the socket taped solid through the pto hole and was able to hold the nut in place and screw the pin in and tighten it. I don't know if the 20 is different or not.-ed
