Air cleaner

Just a question about the difference between the air cleaner that is on my '48 tea20 ( finned / louvred top that is fixed) and the one that is on my 47' tea 20 ( open meshed top that can be removed ). All of the other air cleaners on the tea 20 ' s in our collection are finned / louvred , fixed top type. Why and when did the design change?
Thanks
Ben

i have a 52TEA and it gets it's air from the dash that goes to the top of air cleaner but looks alot like the first pic. my TE47 or 48? has the removable top just like 2nd. pic not much help.

From what I understand about the dash air intake is that those came with the 85mm engines. I am sure Bob (Aust) or John (UK) or others will let you know for sure.

If you will check the 6th post before this one Bob (Aust) has a picture of his dash air cleaner on there.

On the first picture: What is the purpose of the little tube at the top of the filter close to the big carb intake tube.
Is it for crankcase ventilation ?
Thanks in advance

Bart

If I disconnect the small air vent line coming from the crankcase to the air breather oil will leak past the rear oil seal. With the line connected no oil leaks past the rear oil seal

TEA20s with 85 mm engine breath through the dash:

The 80 mm bore engine did not have a breather through the dash. No idea why you have two different air cleaners - may have something to do with Harry selecting the lowest bidder?

Small hijack...

That tractor looks good Bob. Is the steering wheel an original (agents) wheel, or have you rebuilt it yourself.
