TO-35 no oil to rocker arms

I have a TO-35 gas that has good oil pressure to the guage(35lbs) which works fine but is not getting oil to the rocker arm assembly.--Any ideas?
I unhooked the line coming from the block to the guage and turned the engine over and got plenty of oil, I blew air back through the block and it didn't fix it.
 
Oil to the shaft is supplied through the rear shaft stand, comes up through an oil port in the head.

Loosen the rocker shaft bolts just enough for the rear support to raise off the head. Start the engine and see if oil comes out under the stand. If it does, the oil hole in the rocker shaft is clogged or the shaft was assembled wrong.

If no oil comes up through the head the rear main may have spun or something is wrong in the lower end of the engine.

Since the rockers have run dry, the bushings and shaft are probably bad. The shaft and bushings can be bought, but the bushings will need to be reamed to fit the shaft. Much easier to buy a rebuilt shaft/rocker assy.
 
Thanks, I loosened the rocker shaft bolts enough to get a small gap under the rear support and still got no oil with the engine running.
Tomorrow I will drop the pan and check the rear main. I may have more questions after that.-Thanks
 
Did you put in new mains? If so then some bearings are top and bottom specific meaning the oil hole could be blocked by the bearing. If not replaced then probably a clog in the passage which you can clear by running a wire down the hole.
 
No I didn't put in new mains and I don't think the guy I bought it from did either. I'm not sure what hole you are talking about. Is it the one in the head under the rocker arms? I took the rocker arm assembly off and blew 90 lbs. of air into it and that didn't fix it. Can I really fit a wire down that hole to the crank?
 
OK, today I took off the rear main bearing cap and removed the bearings. They are marked upper and lower and they were in wrong. The one marked upper was on the bottom and the one marked lower was on top. So I assume that was the problem. The hole pattern is very different between them. They are marked .020 so are oversized. Should I just get a new set of .020 oversize and put it back together the right way? The crankshaft journal looks fine.
 

What about the rod journals and cam bearings? You may want to check them because of the way the oil routes thru the main bearings and the crankshaft. If the bearing shells were installed upside down then there is a good chance that their are other places that got starved for oil. I would check it all while I had it tore down.
 
If the bearings look good, as in no galling or overheating, they can be put back in. Are the lock tabs ok? They may have been flattened by installing them wrong, something to look at, they could be bent back.

I would remove the other main caps and be sure they are in right. Might take a look at the rod bearings, they may have not been oiling either. Make sure the rod caps are on right, the bearing lock tabs go both on the same side.

At least now you've found the problem, just hope nothing is damaged!
 
Thanks for the ideas. The bearings are a little galled and there are some flakes in the grooves so I plan on replacing them. Good idea I will check them all even the rods.
