the wet dirt plowing done on your side continually intrigues me. why? I have no idea. but now I need to know what do you do with the dirt after plowing? wet discing or ..............

Sure... your potatoes can go in the ground next week.. Saint Patrick's Day?? First day of spring? while we poor innocent yanks and canucks are still 'ploughing' snow... and our seed potatoes have arms and legs long enough to crawl out of the pail... you are so cruel..
AND you forgot to mention the poison ivy... I am surprised your kids didn't catch it. I suppose I was closer to the copperhead than they were... what a pleasant thought eh???? ooooooh......

same with me,
if I plowed or worked my garden spots wet, here in west ky,

The local little league baseball teams could use the dirt clods all season as baseballs.

the dirt stays cloddy and remains that way. I even borrow a 3 pt tiller one year and all it did was change my large clods into smaller clods.

to have soft mellow dirt to plant in my gardens, I just have to wait until mother nature dries out the ground.

I have tried sowing cover crops to add humas, but all that did was keep the ground wetter longer as the sun could not get to the ground to help dry out the soil.

if I wait, the garden spots grow good crops.

ON the plows I have seen with a crank, the crank turns the drawbar on the plow which causes the front bottom to take a wider or narrower cut. On the Ferguson plow we had you had to loosen the U bolts that held the drawbar on and turn it by hand.

We count that ground dry enough to plough, We have to plough the ground to get it to dry. We have a very different climate to you, We don't get frost too often and we get a lot of rain, not real heavy rain but we get little drops of rain quite often, also we don't get real fast drying so little by little the warming , wind blowing and light rain natures the ground so it does break down real nice.........Sam
This is the same garden ploughed real wet last spring,
