TO 35 Green Color

Today I was buying the green paint and the PPG code has pearl white. In the 50's there was no pearl paint. How and who came up with codes for the colors? I had a lot of paint under dash and places where they were not in sun light on the 35.The original doesn't show to have any Metallic in it also. Original paint doesn't look like the PPG chip. Anyone have any info on this before I buy the paint?

Go to the discount store and get some rustoleum.. hunter green... actually I think some even cheaper dollar store hunter green I found was an even closer match to what original green is left on mine... btw... mine does have a sorta metal flake look to it. didn't someone say there were 3 greens used before they switched to bamboo beige? Which looks a lot like rustoleum almond...

Pearl pigment doesn"t show up like metallic does. Metallic causes sparkles of different colors whereas pearl can just cause a shift in color when the light hits it. Looking at the pics that Sam posted there is something in the paint. It certainly doesn"t look like straight green to me. Did you ask them what color the pearl shifts to?
 
Interesting history lesson here! I guess perfect paint is not a true factory restoration. Looks like the tag was masked off, engine was painted after it was installed, which makes sense come to think of it.

And no spark plug boots...
 
there is an older guy that brings a 1955 TO35 to most of the tractor shows around here in west KY

he has done a super job of restoring it, Gray and green, even has some chrome bolts and nuts.

but as others have said, it does not look anything like what I would have thought an new 1955 fergy would have looked like.

His tractor is almost perfect, paint shines to no end. Great looking tractor after a short warm up it will idle down to less than 400 rpms

I thought I had reached a major goal when I got my old 1957 to-35 to idle down to 400 rpms.

he did a great job and it looks good.

I always used napa paint, when painting my tractor, but I was not going for trailer queen, I was going for keeping it from rusting out.
