I was checking the fluids on my TO35. There is no water showing in the water pump and I can"t feel any with my finger in the top of the rad. I am assuming it should have more in it. Should I be able to see fluid in the pump. What is recommended for anti-freeze.

If you had the right mixture use 50/50 to refill. We use 50/50 in Texas. If you require more AF for you climate you may want to add more AF than water. Read the chart on bottle for mixture. Just fill radiator and let tractor run and warm up to mix. Check with tester after running to be sure.

I like to keep the coolant level down about 3" from the top of the radiator, this gives the coolant an area to expand.

I do not run the radiator cap locked down,
on my to35, with a good clean radiator and clean coolant the tractor never gets hot and there is less pressure on the radiator.

I think you only run about a 7 psi cap on the radiator, you need to check and see what psi cap is on your radiator.

If someone has placed a high psi cap on your radiator, this will build up too much pressure on the system and believe me your old radiator will not like high pressure. it will blow the coolant out.
good luck,

Am I missing something? How do you think you should see water in the water pump? I know on my TO 35 I wouldn't be able to see any.

Might I be looking in the cap for adding engine oil. It is just ahead of the distributor, down low. I assumed it was part of the cooling system.
I have a lot of learning to do.

I think you are looking in the oil filler. That is the last place you want to find water!!!

You can not see inside the water pump.

Open the radiator cap, check the coolant is about 1 inch to 2 inches below the cap.

The coolant is 50% clean water; 50% good quality anti freeze. Must be changed every two to three years as the anti freeze becomes diluted and less effective.

That certainly sounds like the oil filler tube. The water pump is a part on the engine with a hose hooked to it and a fan belt is attached to that, and goes down to the bottom of engine and around the crankshaft pulley and around the dynamo pulley. Hope this helps.

John, use the dipstick to find the correct oil level. You should not see the oil level through the oil filler tube. It is OK to see the coolant in the neck of the radiator, in fact it is preferable to see it!
