TO20 Generater Problem????

Well I replaced the VR but still no generator output! After replacing with new VR and new wiring I still get no voltage output??? But I did realize I forgot to repolarize generator! If I need to rebuild the generator; how much trouble is that or is it cheaper to have it done? HELP Thanks Gene

Hard to know your prices in LA, but the last generator I had repaired in Australia cost around $70 plus parts. That included new brushes, commutator turned and refaced and bushes lubricated.

If you are asking how much it costs to polarize a generator and you happen to have a one foot piece of electrical wire it won't cost anything except about one minute of your time.

I think the repair costs will vary with the repair needed. Simple cleaning and a set of new brushes is just a few dollars and you could do it otherwise like the other post depending on what needs to be done $50-100 would be about right.
