My TEA 20 1953 3 pt hitch has stopped working. I am hoping I can see more by removing inspection plate. Does anyone have pictures of what I will be looking at when I remove the inspection plate on the right side? How much oil will I need to drain before removing plate?
Thnaks

On level ground put a container under the inspection plate and remove the bottom bolt. When the oil stops coming out remove the rest of the bolts. This is also the full amount of oil so you do not need to replace any of the oil that came out through the bolt hole when you are done. Before others can help you you need to tell them exactly what the lift arms are or are not doing. Are lift arms stuck up? Did you make sure the control lever on the left side inspection plate
is in gear? Is the PTO shaft turning?

you sticka you hands in hole with engine running, you no keepa u fingers, hand, and whatever else.
No sticka da fingers in da hole wid da engine running.
Capeech?

pto works fine, arms will not go up. have removed lower bolt and drained oil. It feels like something is not attached. Also the control lever shaft seems looser than I have noticed before

It sounds like the control valve has come unhooked from the control fork. Follow the two legs of the control fork down to the bottom and you should feel a T shaped piece that goes between the control forks and into the pump. When you move the control lever it moves the control fork which moves the valve in and out of the pump which determines whether the arms lift or drop. It is much easier to see with the oil drained completely out. The valve is directly over the big drain hole in the bottom of the pump. If the control valve is unhooked just spread the legs of the fork and reinsert the ends of the control valve. I always found it easier to go up thru the drain hole with a large screwdriver and pry the control fork open to get the control valve in. If you do drain the hydraulics completely when you go to refill it pour two gallons in and then wait 15 mins...then pour another gallon...wait...pour another...wait...until its up to the bottom bolt hole on the dipstick cover. If you pour the oil back in to fast it will pour out onto the brakes and out the front of the transmission onto your clutch.

Success, removed left side cover plate and was able to move the fork and all started to work again.
My thanks to you all and to John UK for his patience.
