not pretty but here it is..Fergy 20

Some of you wanted to see my Fergy TO 20/back blade. Bought non-running for $700 and blade for $225. Already had rebuilt starter/drive and all new ignitionand new muffler.Also put in new axle seals. Flywheel ring gear was slid back out of range. Fixed that and new cork on 3pt control and throttle. Rebuilt carb and set all specs where they should be. At zero degrees it starts and runs perfect. Loaded rears so handles the 8" ARPS HD blade nicely. No it won't plow a foot of wet snow but as long as I get out there after abt 3-4" it does just fine. Just a little "working tractor" that looks presentable and am not afraid to scratch it up. Has had a factory 30 replacement block sometime in it's life. Doesn't smoke a bit and everything works like it should....accept for the NEW temp guage I shouldn't have got from TSC..gotta take that back. Anybody ever just put an elect sending unit in the water neck and run an elect guage on one of these?? Anyway here's some pics. If you are "correct police" you may want to turn the page.By the way, I bolted an old JD plow clevis (horozontal loop) to the drawbar and put a pin on the blade frame to fall into it when lowering blade to act as a stabilizer when blade is angled. Works perfect. Ties blade to drawbar when it's down so angle can't push blade sideways. Randy B.

If You get chains for the rear wheels, you'll be able to plow 12" of wet snow with no problems. I know it works for my TE-20!

Unfortunately... as you get more practice and experience with the scraper, you will learn how to get it to pull or push what ever comes at ya... trouble is... it has to snow a lot to get that sort of education..

This is our first tractor back in 1961 when Dad first bought the farm. He paid $700 for it and 2 row cult and 2 btm plow. That tractor alone farmed our first 80 acres for 3 yrs until we went bigger and more acres. Worked it's little guts out and it kept on going. Tough little guys they were.

That barn is something out of a dream , a marvellous building , is it still standing ?

Hi B, I am just here visiting from the Farmall board. Love your tractor and the photos by the way. I have bladed a lot of snow with a farmall super C. I am assuming your tractor and mine weight about the same and have close to the same HP. When using my back blade I have learned to not drop it all the way to the ground. Keep it up only about maybe an inch and you would be amazed how much that extra weight of holding that blade up a little helps. And on the temp gauge the only time mine has ever moved was pulling a two bottom plow on a 95 degree day. I could push snow till the cows come home and it would never register anything. These old tractors don’t get to hot that’s for sure.

Unfortunately my dad didn't see it that way and in the early to mid 1970,s tore it down and put up a huge pole building (steel) that would house all our machinery at that time and have room to work on them too. Tall enough for the combine and large enough for all our tractors and machinery. Nothing set outside from then on. Lot of memories in that ole barn from filling it to the top with hay bales to capturing pigeons and building tunnels and cabins in the bales to hand milking cows and trying to find where the chickens laid their eggs. Dad bought the farm to keep four scrapping boys out of trouble. He was smart and it worked. We are all better people for being raised on the farm. No broken bones, no jail time, no drunk drivings or tickets and we did learn the value of a dollar and that a dollar saved was like $1.50 earned. All I can say is awesome - reminds me of times we will never be blessed with. I would love to have raised my kids on a farm. BUT the barn would stay!!! We had a barn when I was growing up -it was left to the "oldest son" ( family traditions), the barn was torn down property sold.Love the pictures.

Why is it for sale?

Everything but my '51 JD "B" (and my wife of course )is for sale. That's just the way I roll. I can't afford to keep every toy I get hold of. Bought it non running , fixed everything on it so it's dependable ( would sell it to my brother without a problem)will do a good job for someone needing a tractor that size.

I was wondering that same thing about the temp guage since it is the capillary tube type with 70" tube. Guess I will give it the benefit of the doubt and leave it alone and see what it does if I still have it in warm weather. Thanks,Paul.

I can appreciate that and it can help the bottom line so I am glad for those that can do that type of work. I wish I had the knowledge to tear into everything but for the most part I don't. I pick and choose what I want to redo myself.

Well that looks purdier than a new set of snow tires.........well it looks a lot better than my yellow painted 35.

Look up on craigslist under "Central Michigan" id # 422199062. As you will see I really don't care to sell the blade seperately but would sell the tractor without blade. I have locations of nice blades in the $250-#350 range that I would gladly buy to go with tractor if the deal requires. They are not the real heavy duty ones and some are 6-7' but useable blades just the same. I have all the details of work done etc and price on craigslist but basically it breaks down to this...asking $2500 for both together or $700 for blade and least I can do right now on tractor is $1800. As I said,I would just as soon keep the blade but $700 would buy it. HD 8'ers bring a lot of $$$ compared to the light TSC type blades. I,ve put in a lot of time on the tractor so I need to get my parts and at least some labor back.I know if you don't live within 2-300 mi of central Mi then shipping will kill the deal sometimes and that's why I used craigslist instead of this sites photo ads.
