1954 TE-A20 Throttle rods

Was using my TE-A20 to clear snow from the driveway and had one of the throttle rods come apart. I managed to pop it back on and use the tractor just fine but will need to replace it. The one that came off is the lower end from the Governor. Are these rod ends still readily available? Are they just standard rod ends I can get from an auto supply? Thanks for any suggestions. Joe

That"s on the ball fitting i have seen them some were but you should be able to crimp it closed a little with pliers

Check to see if it has a slot in the end. If it has.... this type can be tightened with a regular slot screwdriver.

Agco has them for the TO 20/30. Don't know if it is the same as TE series. What Agco has are not exact copies but they work very well. If I was you and wanted exact copies I would contact someone in the UK and ask if they would like to help you.

The small piece of wire inside the socket end wears flat and lets the ball out . Find a helical spring about the right diameter and snip off one coil , use this to replace the wire you removed . Works a treat , the tension of the coil holds it in the groove and the increased diameter stops the ball end from falling out .

We have had ppl get these before locally from their supplier, depends how good your local supplier is tho. From your description it reads that it is the vertical rod at the back of the Generator, but there is no joint at the bottom of this, it attaches by the spring. I take it that you must mean the throttle link under the dash panel, you can get these from a Sparex Dealer as part S-42875 (MF part 181672M91) for the complete rod... John(UK)[email protected]

Does your TEA20 have ball joints?

Here are the original throttle connections on my 1953 TEA20:

You could make the replacements. Less problems than ball joints.

Sorry for my poor description John ! It was the vertical rod that comes up from behind the generator. It disconnected at the top not the bottom like I previously said. Guess I should lay off the egg-nog when posting !

The ball-end or rod-end as I called is rusty and worn out. Some great replies here. I really appreciate it.

Most hardware stores carry those ends. You can can them in different sizes and right and left hand thread. I bought some for another project a while back at my local Ace Hardware.

I put all new ones on my TO35, ordered them from McMaster Carr, www.mcmaster.com
I can't remember the size but I could post the part number if needed.
