OK my starter was acting up and I removed it to find the nose cone broken. I pulled the inspection plate and I found two nose cone pieces . Now , Norm the rebuilder says this is very common on the Ferguson starter. He says in has something to do with the engine kicking back and can brake the nose cone. It is from, timing or using to much ether. I don't use ether and my timing should be good. It starts right up with not much drag on the starter. I have pro-tronics and it is easy to start. Also the armature was really bent.Your thoughts would be welcome .
