TE20 diff centre pins/slash rivets - What to do?

Looking at my TE20 diff centre I notice two missing rivets. The "flat" heads are missing and the other "conical" rivet sections (see photo) are still in situe.

There were no "missing pieces" in the diff housing, which has been thoroughly cleaned out, so I can only assume that someone has previously found the problem, removed the broken bits and shoved it back in "as is".

Question is: "What is the fix?"

Thanks.

Mmmmm .... looks they are "crown wheel bolts with castelated nuts and peened shanks".

Should I replace all? or just the two?
And how would I get the remaining ones out?

All the other bolts can be rotated by finger pressure in their respective holes - do they need to be tight?

Thanks.

Sorry about the 2 different user names.
Mucked something up by logging in on my other computer.

They are both me.

BTW can one edit or remove posts on this forum?

Thanks.

There was a repair kit for these. It consisted of bolts, castellated nuts and a split cotter pin. I am not sure if the kit is still available, but you can maybe buy castellated nuts locally? and drill the bolts to accept the pins.

Thanks Sam.

It looks like you can buy sets of bolts and nuts off the various aftermarket tractor part suppliers.

Would you think I should replace them all, as the remaining ones can be turned by hand? (They are not tight.)

You have to replace them all. If the other rivets are loose they will soon shear off like the already broken ones. Only way to fix it is to replace them all and bolt the ring gear on tight.

If you can turn them by hand yes i would replace them all. Fords 9n"s were riveted then the 8"s were bolted instead of cotter pins they used wire in all the holes connecting the two ends together i guess so nothing would drop in the oil.
