Snow Blower advice

I have the opportunity to buy a Woods SS52 rear
mount snow blower 54 inches wide. Manual chute.
I have a TEA 20 that runs very well. My question is
how well will this do on my Ferguson? I live in
Maine where the snow at times can be quite wet and
heavy.
Any advice from experienced users will be greatly
appreciated

Reverse gear is kinda fast for a snowblower, and I think it would be a pain to back up & pull forward a lot with a live PTO.

When backing up you might be able to lock up one brake and make the other tire spin to control your ground speed in deep snow.

I think you could make the best of it, but it's not an ideal tractor for a snowblower.

I'm in New Brunswick Canada so my weather conditions are very similar to yours.
I had a 6 foot blower on my TEA-20 a couple years ago. I found it was a bit too big but the one you have is a little smaller. In lighter snow it worked ok. If I let the snow build up to more than four inches it was tough going, starting and stopping all the time. With a live PTO it would be much better. Reverse gear on the TEA-20 @1500rpm is just over 3mph. That is a bit fast for the blower with the horsepower available. Just my humble opinion but I'd ditch the blower in favor of a front mounted dozer blade if you can find one. Joe

I forgot to mention that I have a Hupp transmission. I have used it before and if I remember correctly it got stuck once in that low speed range and took some finagaling to get it out and I have not tried it since.
I am using a rear grader blade which works well but I tend to run out of space to put the snow

The Hupp in low range would also slow down your PTO so that wouldn't work to well with a blower. I use a 72" blower on an MF50 and wouldn't want to be without the low range reverse and two stage clutch. A TO35 would work the same as an MF50 as long as it had the two-stage clutch. I also have a TO20 and TO30 and their reverse speed would be to high most of the time for snow blowing with the engine at PTO speed. I recently bought a MH50 with an MF65 rear end and that combo goes REALLY slow which I think would work even better for busting through big compacted road plow snow piles.

Unless it is free, forget it. I had..still have.. the 3 point farmking blower I used on my big AC's... with a lot of power, two stage clutch..AND light fluffy powdery snow.. it worked really good. Come down to southern New England... the snow falls like Italian ice.. come out the chute like an ice cream machine too. does more plowing than blowing. so just buy a plow.. unless you are so far north the snow is always powder, even then you don't have live pto.. even if it is free..
