TO 20 alternator/ generator bracket

Barstart

New User
Hi! I"m replacing a botched 12v conversion. I have an aftermarket alternator bracket to install. Problem is, I"m not sure what this was supposed to look like in the first place, and I think there"s something extra in here that I should remove. It will be a bear to remove, so I thought I"d get an expert opinion first.

There is a 1/4" metal bar between the crankcase and the whole radiator support assembly. On the left side, that assembly bolts directly to the case. On the right, there"s this bar between the two, and the new alternator bracket won"t fit with it in there. I"m not sure if that bar was part of some sort of original generator bracket that I should have, or if I should just take it out, which will require loosening those two big bolts that hold the front of the tractor onto the case.

I"d post a pic, but I"m on my cell phone, and it doesn"t seem to work.

Yeah a custom fab lower bracket is in order. I did mine and joined two bars together to the top water pump bolt for the top adjuster.

Yeah the 1/4 " metal bar is for the generator mount I would think if it's removed with out shimming it back (1/4)it will have premature wear on the bushing for the front axle. I was able to leave mine in and use it.

Now if your paying attention, you noticed the washers on the bottom bolt. These washers allow for the eventual exchange of the alt with another one.
The typical alt mount has a sliding adjustment of some type on the lower bolt for proper tension/alignment. I am not so intelligent on my design. I used washers instead.
