I set the yesterday.

Here is a better pictur of the lip I was asking about. It does go aft away from the oil.

Now to go but 8 gallons of oil... ouch.

lip of any oil seal goes toward the oil. It holds the oil in the case.

The larger lip, (usually has a garter spring inside it), will go inward, toward the oil reservoir. The smaller lip will go toward the outside, to keep grit, grass, water, etc. from getting to the main seal lip. Also this area should be lubricated with oil or grease when assembled.
