head gasket installation

Any general medium grease will do, it is just to allow the gasket to slide easily as you tighten the Head, if it didn't it could tear the gasket material..John(UK)

You don"t have to coat the head gasket with grease. That was written when head gaskets were made of asbestos construction and were hard as a rock. Most modern head gaskets need no sealer but if you do want to use a sealer I would recommend copper coat head gasket spray. It will allow the gasket to move as you torque it and seal much better than grease.

I did mine 80 hours ago with drum wheel bearing grease. Thin coat. Good luck taking it apart in 30 minutes. I had to remove mine. It tore in two halves. One side glued to the head and the other to the block.
