so with the exception of the crank bearing inserts being different, if i need engine parts(getting ready to replace governor) do i still order them for to20(z120 block) or to30(z129 block)? i am asuming that cylinder bore and such is still same as regular z120 or does it match z129? i know that majority of parts is the same for both but have seen some that were specific to the model of engine.

The governor is the same for the Z120 and Z129 (and Z134) engines. As to the sleeves, they would have bored the replacement block to fit the Z120 sleeves as it was intended to replace a Z120. I have one of these replacement blocks in my TO20 and when I bought the sleeve kit for it I got the Z120 kit and it fit fine.

thank you very much for the info. it answers a lot of questions i was about to ask. mine also has the tsx458 carb on it which was(duh) used on the to30 engine. i am going to replace governor in mine due to not working at all even after adjustment and also has a knocking in governor timing cover. not bad but i am not use to the noise. almost sounds like something rolling around in there when idling. other than that, tractor runs great with 22-25 lbs oil pressure at a warmed up idle and even runs my woods 5' brush hog better than my 51 8n does.
