Getting the PTO bearing out.

I lost the fwd snap ring on my MF65 PTO shaft. The shaft destroyed the oil seal and has pulled out the back.

The seal housing and bearing are still in the tractor. Any Ideas on how to get the seal housing and bearing out? I tried pulling but the are not moving. I can get the seal housing to turn. I do not have a slide hammer, may need to get one.

Try screwing in the pto cover it may give you something to grip, There is only the 'O' ring holding it. You may have to use a slide hammer but for all the time you need one you could make up something?....Threaded bar, a big washer and nut to catch inside the housing and something heavy to slide against a nut on the other end. Even if you can cut a pice of flat bar to fit inside the housing, drill a hole in the middle to take the threaded bar and wriggle it into place then fit the other end through something like say the 9 hole draw bar and lever it out ?
Good luck.....Sam

If you have to, I think a slide hammer is on the loaner tool program at most parts stores. I have two slide hammers. One with a 5 pound weight and one with with a 15 pound weight. It has suprised me how often I end up using them.

Thanks. I Have plenty of TO20 covers. If they fit that give me something to grip.

By the time I got the rubbish bins out, and other required domestic chores done it was getting dark and starting to rain.

On the plus side. The bearing looked ok. From what I could see.
