the z129 onto 134 tranny idea....

I took these before I loaded this block for Jason... hummmm... anyway, there are no more than 6 bolt holes that will line up... then we have the photographic proof of my old theory ' the shoe will fit, just don't try walking very far'.
I 'assume' the flywheel and pilot bearing will line up..
To have any strength for the first good jolt, this will need a French Fergie/MF25/ Allis Chalmers plates from the transmission case to the pilot housing. I suppose if Jason ain't interested in these anymore... hummmm.....

Of course I'm still interested in it. I'm going to put block fill in it to strengthen it up like I suggested two years ago and show people that it does work, just like my TO-20 that has run for two years now with Bars Leak Copper Liquid Glass in it. You know that stuff that everyone says doesn't work but I have logged a lot of hard hours on mine and it works just fine. I have to prove a point here Tony...lol. Some people frown upon experimenting...I don't. I like a stock appearing Ferguson but if you can improve things internally why not? Like my hydraulic lift cylinder piston that has been modified. I had the third ring groove machined and I installed a NAA oring and back up washer behind the first two steel rings. I get the best of both worlds that way. I ported the manifold on mine before I installed it. A free breathing engine is a happy and more efficient engine. All the while it appears bone stock except the lift doesn't hit the ground when you step on the clutch and the motor may sound a little different.

Ah ha. So that's how your lift stay up instead of slowly falling. And as far as sound... since the thread on mufflers the other day I been thinking... these tractors do seem to be louder now days than I remember years ago.... I blame mine on leaky manifold gaskets and my poor workmanship... but the pipes themselves must be getting cheesier.
Free rake? So you want to see me suffer on the side of route 81?? ... cold and alone... in the rain.. with a dead Ford campervan... like a sad ol Elvis song....

I don't recall any Elvis songs about a guy hauling tractor parts across the country and breaking down...but he did a lot of stuff I'm not familiar with.
I like your idea and agree with out of the box thinking. Just because a bunch of people tell you it can't or shouldn't be done just means they've never done it.

Well Inno my idea for the continental blocks was to use some block fill. It is stuff that you pour in engine blocks to strengthen them for race cars.It has the same expansion rate as iron and you can do as much or as little as you want. I was intending on pouring some in the bottom of the block to strengthen in and it will help seal the cracks. I wouldn"t pour a whole lot in because that could cause over heating but just enough to help seal and reinforce it.

If the Z134 oil pan would fit on the Z129 block you would get more support between the engine and trans.

Tony, stop right there, you fergot to close one of the lynch pins!
6 bolts, 2 lynch pins a tube of superglue and a piece of tin to keep out the mice and you should be good to go!
