I got it charging finally

the ground on the regulator was not working I guess so I ran an aux wire to a good ground point and what do u know if started to charge finally thanks for all the help guys I would have probably sold the tractor by now if it was not for all the help advise

How about that? I've been watching this thread as I have charging issues on my TO30 too (I throw my 6v charger on it and hour before use). Does your ammeter show the charging amps?

yes, in my case the meter is good and really it is just a gauge so it show the direction the DC current is move through the gauge. so where are u with ur charging system? maybe I can help
