Just Acquired a TO30

Well, I have now officially joined the Ferguson brotherhood by picking up a TO30. The darn thing looks so cute. It seems like it is in really great shape, steering is very tight, tin is pretty straight. Haven't gotten it running, as it was sitting in a shed for a few years. It is getting gas (well, if that's what you can call it after it's that old). I will drain the tank and put in fresh fuel and new spark plugs tomorrow. There is a cable linkage that goes into the clutch housing, is that some type of over/under drive? Is there any thing that I need to know about Ferguson's since this is my first one?
 
It sounds as the only thing you have to do is change your handle to FergyGreyRules.
It sounds as you may have an over under tranny yes. You only need to know the S on the transmission cover means start that is not a 5 as in 5 speed.
 
I just bought one too. Great machine. There are a lot of people on here who really know what they are talking about. I am rebuilding my throttle but when I am done I will let you know how it runs. Make sure to check the friction disk on your throttle. There were about three old ones painted over on mine and no way to keep the throttle in place. A good guy made one for me and I replaced it. Now it stays in place. I just have to replace the governor springs and i should be in action.
 
While your at it check the friction disc on the lift control. It's the same disc as the one for the throttle and some TO-30's had a rubber disc and Ferguson recommended they be replaced with cork ones like the earlier Fergusons used. It must have been something they tried and found out it wasn't a good idea.
 
well enjoy the tractor if it has sat for a while u may want to check the points if it does not start, is the tractor still 6 volt positive ground? if the points need cleaned go ahead and set them also .015 thousands with a feelers gauge good luck
