Tractor mower relationship

I have been out there sweating to the oldies trying in install my #32 MF mower onto my TO-35 tractor.

with the lower pins mounted into the machine rather than out as all other ferguson equipment.

I can see now why Harry decided to take his money and leave the company with those dude's from Massy Harris showed with a bucket load of money.

I got it on but after reading about timing I see the blade guard relationship is off.
to cut weeds around the creek bank I am not going to try and time it, looks like too much work. might someday try to cut off the pitman if you guys think that would work.

thanks for your reply's,

the first picture is with the blade all the way out, second picture is with the blade all the way in.

I replaced the pitman many years ago, I bought it at the MF dealer for the mower, but it may have been a universal, at the time I did not know about register of the blade to the guards.

I do have the original manual that came with the mower when dad bought it new in about 1960.

if the blade will completely cover the guard at any one point in its rotation cycle, then would that not be the same as full register,

just would not happen the full stroke.

grandkids coming today, so I cannot work on it anymore. I parked it in the back of the tool shed, so they will not get around it.

I need to form a blade guard for it, as my grand daughter always wants to ride little Fergy.
and she gets what she wants from grandpa!!!!

it can be a dangerous tool.

again, thanks for your reply's

That must be a newer version of my 'balance head' FEO-20... 5&1/2 point hitch mower.... I still haven't mastered putting it on... comes off really easy tho.. seems half the Ferguson brand implements made were something beside 'basic 3 point hitch'.
yep, the section bar is 'out of time'. Maybe John's manual will sort that out without wasting your old shaft... hopefully you are an inch too long rather than already too short. That's when a collection of old hockey sticks come in handy.... or are you too far south for that madness???

had my old friend, who has cut and put up thousands of bales of hay over the years come over and look at the mower.

one cycle of the pitman rod crank and he determined it's out of time.

but, with the book, he showed me how to move the shims around to correct the problem.

however, that is not going to be a 5 min job.

but, I do plan to try and retime the old mower, if possible.

he was amazed at how quite it runs, with old tractor idling at 400 rpm's

My friend came over this morning and help me get the old MF#32 mower back in register.

Bar end lead was within spec.

So I should be ready to go cut some weeds.

Maxwell- Are you familiar with 'N tractor forums online manuals' a collection of every page of every manual someone had in a dealership or ? that is now online. forgot to mention it when you first posted this, but there is an early HF mower on craigslist near me, and I wanted to check on the mounts etc, got onto that site this evening, and thought to tell you about it- I am bad at cut and paste- well, I just can't cut and paste... 13 years on the www.. sad eh?
