40 drive train colors

I'm sure Richard L will know. They were the early ones. There is a original 40 green and gray for sale in MO. Don't see many that hasn't been painted red.

I am working on the 1956 Ferguson TO 35 not F 40 however I would like to think it would have been smarter to have done this 50 years ago as there were 4,583 TO 35s built in 1956 and with everything I have been able to accumulate I have a grand total of 19 units. I should have had 20 but I left my note pad in the auction barn at the EXPO so I do not have Richard Kimballs 56 information. I will get that info again at the 2014 EXPO or I will get hold of Richard and ask him to send it to me. Why didn't the company keep better records. LOL In my thinking I would have guessed they switched back and forth between grey and green until the green was all used up. If that is the case it may never be known what the last green 40 was. Same as I am trying to find out what the first beige 35 S/N was.

Miner09 are you saying there were grey and green F 40s? I thought they were all Bamboo Beige and Grey OR Green. From what I have read they started painting the TO 35 Beige at about the same time as they started building the F 40. Now what are you hiding from us?

I know what Miner is talking about, somewhere, a little while ago- couple years... there were color pictures of the first 4 or 5 F40's in a field trial, all green belly, grey tin. So's just like '55 TO35's? Then someone said that was only this first half dozen or so ??? Not the production line ones? I dunno...
Knowning Mickey's luck, all of them are behind a barn in Oklahoma a half tank of gas from his house... and the guy trades tractors for six packs.. I think it was Sam that told me to check for original paint samples on mine (the one you lead me to Rich!) but by the 400's beige and grey must have been the winner?

Julie Browning's grey green F40 in Manchester, England. The tractor is number 19. It was found and restored by David Lory in WI.
